Our plan for 2020 was to focus on growing our Junket Crew’s understanding of food prep, budgeting, grocery shopping, and sharing lessons learned about preparing and eating healthy, nutritious food. Like so many others, our plans were altered after the pandemic hit and so, as always, our crew adjusted and made the most of the situation.

Typically, our giving back project would involve paying for the Junketeers’ travel, food, and also the supplies needed for the day. This year, we took that money and decided to donate it to Grow NYC, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing healthy food options to New Yorkers. Their programming includes operating farmer’s markets throughout the city, offering a virtual teaching garden and nutrition resource page for schools, and working to ensure all New Yorkers have healthy food options in their neighborhood. While we were disappointed to not have the hands-on food education we were hoping for this year, we are thrilled to be able to support Grow NYC and the work they’re doing for our community.

See below for a breakdown of their key programs.
